IISE Officer Position Descriptions


President
The President oversees all club operations to ensure that the club mission, vision, and goals are achieved. The President must be able to communicate and lead effectively, work well with others, initiate changes, and remain organized.

Main Duties Include:

  • Oversee and coordinate all officers and club functions
  • Strategic planning to achieve the club’s mission and vision
  • Plan and facilitate meetings, conferences, and officer transitions
  • Lead, develop, assist, and motivate club officers and members

Internal Vice President
The Internal Vice President oversees all internal club operations and serves as the direct point-of-contact for internal officers and affairs. The Vice President must be able to communicate and lead effectively, work well with others, initiate changes, and remain organized.

Main Duties Include:

  • Oversee the internal operations of the club
  • Work directly with the internal officers, including: Secretary, Event Coordinator, Membership Director, Publicity Director, and Historian
  • Lead, develop, assist, and motivate club officers and members

External Vice President
The External Vice President oversees all external club operations and serves as the direct point-of-contact for external officers and affairs. The Vice President must be able to communicate and lead effectively, work well with others, initiate changes, and remain organized.

Main Duties Include:

  • Oversee the external operations of the club
  • Work directly with the external officers
  • Lead, develop, assist, and motivate club officers and members
  • Support a primary program (e.g. Lead mentorship program)

Treasurer
The Treasurer manages all club financial accounts and activity to assist in creating the strategic plan and making executive decisions. The Treasurer must have strong personal finance habits, be organized, and be knowledgeable money management.

Main Duties Include:

  • Track, manage, budget, and advise the use of club funds
  • Prepare an annual financial report for IISE, prepare a financial report for Engineering Student Council, and file taxes

Secretary
The Secretary collects and organizes all officer meeting notes while also serving as a point-of-contact for club competitions. The Secretary must have a strong note-taking ability, be organized, and be able to communicate effectively with various audiences. The Secretary should also be able to attend Engineering Student Council meetings to relay relevant information back to the club.

Main Duties Include:

  • Record, organize, and distribute all officer meeting minutes
  • Coordinate club competitions including: Undergraduate Technical Paper, Simulation, Mobile Application, and YouTube Video
  • Represent IISE on the Engineering Student Council (ESC)
  • Facilitate communication between OSU COE and the club

Event Coordinator
The Event Coordinator plans and operates all social events for the club to engage and retain membership. The Event Coordinator should have an outgoing personality, be able to communicate effectively with various audiences, and be creative.

Main Duties Include:

  • Plan and operate at least two club social events per term
  • Coordinate with fellow officers to successfully execute events
  • Develop new, engaging, and creative events to attract members

Membership Director
The Membership Director manages all member recruitment efforts and tracks membership data. The Membership Director should have an outgoing personality, be able to communicate effectively with various audiences, and be knowledgeable about club benefits, events, etc.

Main Duties Include:

  • Oversee club and IISE national member recruitment
  • Promote club and member benefits at events and meetings
  • Reach out to potential and existing members by email or in-person
  • Check IISE member roster to provide member data and expiration reminders

Publicity Director
The Publicity Director manages public relation networks for the club all member recruitment efforts. The Publicity Director should be creative and outgoing, able to effectively communicate through various advertising mediums, and be knowledgeable about club events, benefits, etc.

Main Duties Include:

  • Coordinate with fellow officers on event details and advertising channels
  • Manage and post content on the club social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Oversee club and IISE national member recruitment
  • Check IISE member roster to provide member data and expiration reminders

Training & Education Chair (TEC)
The TEC manages the majority of club fundraising through hosting recognized training and educational courses for club members and OSU students. The TEC must be able to effectively coordinate complex events, communicate effectively with multiple audiences, and be organized.

Main Duties Include:

  • Coordinate the annual Six Sigma Green Belt course
  • Coordinate the annual Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam review course
  • Manage the majority of annual club fundraising

TEC Elect
The TEC Elect learns and assists the TEC with their main duties to be able to perform those duties the next year. The TEC Elect should be able to commit two years to this position (one year for the TEC Elect and one year for the TEC) and be eager to learn.

Main Duties Include:

  • Learn and become familiar with the main duties of the TEC position
  • Assist the TEC with their main duties

Industry Liaison
The Industry Liaison plans and operates all industry events to expose club members to potential careers and opportunities post-graduation. The Industry Liaison should be well connected to and comfortable reaching out to industry professionals and companies as well as being able to effectively coordinate and promote events.

Main Duties Include:

  • Plan and operate at least one industry speaker per term
  • Plan and operate at least one industry tour per term
  • Effectively communicate and network with industry representatives

Webmaster
The Webmaster manages the club website to keep information current and useful. The Webmaster should be knowledgeable about website operations, creative, and able to work well with fellow officers.

Main Duties Include:

  • Maintain club website through WordPress
  • Create and update web pages
